The DayStar Quantum PE Hydrogen Alpha filter has a total bandpass of just 0.4 Angstroms (0.04 nm).
This narrow bandpass allows the telescope to capture more detail by increasing the contrast and minimizing atmospheric disturbances.
By targeting the hydrogen-alpha emission wavelength, the filter isolates the red light emitted by the hydrogen atoms in the solar chromosphere.
Without an extremely narrow bandpass filter, high resolution images of the Sun's atmosphere would not be possible.
TELESCOPE
Explore Scientific FCD100 Series 127mm Carbon Fibre APO
This carbon fibre refractor utilizes an air spaced triplet design containing FCD100 ED glass with a 127mm primary aperture.
The high-performance glass in this telescope delivers advanced chromatic abberation correction to provide a clean, detailed image to the DayStar Filter and camera.
Natively this telescope has a focal length of 952mm, giving a focal ratio of f/7.5.
Equipped with a 4.3x barlow, the effective focal length of the telescope is 4093mm with a focal ratio of f/32.
CAMERA
ZWO ASI432MM
Using the 1.1" Sony IMX432 sensor, this camera is able to record over 100 Frames per second using the full 1608*1104 resolution.
This greatly increases the chances of collecting good images to be stacked using lucky imaging.
The excellent read noise combined with the large full well capacity of this camera greatly enhances image quality.
